Emma was born in London in 1966 and grew up in the Scottish Borders. She studied Stained Glass at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 1988, and continue to live and work in Edinburgh. A large proportion of Emma's work is commissioned and often of considerable scale. “I enjoy the variety of making small objects in contrast to this. Playful birds with various characters have emerged from my experiments with fusing glass. I take risks and bend the rules resulting in unexpected colour combinations and textures. No piece can be exactly replicated.”
