Tor is an award winning print maker, whose current pictorial concerns are with capturing the body language of both human and animal forms, often reducing them to a dense mass. “In doing this I hope to allow the image to dominate the picture plane, but at the same time putting across sensuality and emotion.”
Dogs are an important part of Tor's life. In her prints she hopes to capture a pose or characteristic of the dog that can be recognised by others in their own dogs. In her narrative work, Tor tries to portray a sense of humour as well as often putting across a more serious message.
Tor's interest in experimenting with new techniques images and printing methods allows her to challenge the boundaries of printmaking which enables her to produce marks and textures that relates to which ever subject she is working on.
Since leaving college in 1996, Tor has worked both as atutor and printmaking technician at UCA, Maidstone, as well as working for 10 years in Adult Education. She now runs her own private printmaking courses from her studio, which gives her more time to concentrate on her own work. Recently, Tor has finished an MA in printmaking and has been an exhibitor in the RA Summer Exhibition 2011, where her piece Mr Muscle is almost sold out.
