Anne was born in Cheshire, England and studied at Stockport College of Art, following which she spent an informative period In an Advertising Agency, eventually working as a free-lance Artist whilst gaining an International reputation as a Figurative & Fashion Artist.
Anne now lives in a beautiful part of Wales where she can enjoy the pleasures of walks with her dogs amongst the woods & estuaries, gaining a love of the unexpected natural world, the rocks, changing lights and the impermanence and freedom of the country.
After many years experimenting and using most mediums, Anne now finds Oils and Mixed Media gives her the means to work freely, always excited and involved within this partnership of creation.
Annes working world is necessarily a solitary one. "After a morning sketching, planning and sourcing materials the moment arrives when I am drawn to my project, to allow the canvas & colours to open up to my minds picture. I work quickly; hands flying & shaping around the canvas, finding a balance a form, eventually when all is evolving, I begin to work on another level of intuition, I am now trusting to my inspiration & experience, through memory & emotions, creating textures & multiple layers trying to escape the banal, the expected. This is my joy and pain of painting".
Anne's work has evolved from the representational, through Impressionism to presently tapping into new areas of exploration whereby creating a story or emotion without an observational subject. Taking now, inspiration from the natural world.
