Maria Rivans is an incredible UK artist who lives and works in Brighton, and is best known for her intricate surreal landscapes, pin-up portraits and 3D boxed art works. Rivans draws inspiration from philosophical teachings, cultural references such as vintage Hollywood films, Hitchcock and the sci-fi films and shows she watched as a child to create stunning limited edition art prints.
Rivans explores the idea of existing alternate realities and fantastical other worlds by creating eye-popping collage art works which transport us into her surreal and exciting universe. By combining vintage film paraphernalia with found imagery from different era's, Rivans creates a strange and peculiar world all of her own in which anything could happen.
Maria exhibits her work across the UK as well as internationally - New York, Hong Kong, Singapore and Europe. Most recently she had a solo show at the Saatchi Gallery, London.
